Glowing Oceans opens 3 November at Science Centre Singapore

Science Centre Singapore opens Glowing Oceans on 3 November 2026. It is billed as Asia's first full-scale living bioluminescence exhibition, and the bit that matters in Jurong is that you walk into the water. City lights usually wash out the dinoflagellate blooms that sometimes appear on Singapore shores. The centre built a dark room so you can actually see them fire.

The signature room is the Lagoon. You put on booties over your shoes, wade into a shallow pool of live dinoflagellates, and every step leaves a sapphire-blue trail. No swimming, sitting, or lying in the water. Booties come in general adult and child sizes, subject to stock, and you return them at the exit. Science Centre says the species on show are non-toxic. They are not the red-tide strains. The Lagoon is not a fit for every wheelchair. The gallery is dark and enclosed, so skip it if that is a problem, and skip it if you have sensitive skin the staff flag as a risk.

Budget 45 to 60 minutes. The official page lists it as suitable from age 4. Under 4s are out. Under 12s need an adult with them the whole time. School groups need one adult for every 20 students. Photography is allowed. Flash is banned. You are on the hook for phones and cameras if they go in the water.

Away from the Lagoon, Dimitri's Living Light Laboratory is the dry science desk: coral, shrimp, squid and other glowing specimens under glass, a quiz screen, a microscope, and a small tank. 8world's write-up of the same show also names Galaxy Tables, where you draw with a finger in glowing water, Touch Tables and Tanks you stir, and Bubble Pods for a close look at the cells. An education corner covers why they glow, what triggers it, and how the living cultures are kept. Trust the Science Centre page for the Lagoon rules. Use the press copy for the extra stations if the floor plan has not changed by opening day.

Tickets include Science Centre admission. Glowing Oceans plus the centre, for Singapore citizens and PRs, is $12 adult and $10 child or senior at peak, and $7 for everyone off-peak. Standard tickets are $18 adult, $14 child, $18 senior. The Super Glow Bundle stacks ONE Ocean on top of that: SG/PR peak $23 adult and $18 child or senior, off-peak $20 and $15, standard $30 and $24. ONE Ocean is the Tara Ocean Foundation show already running in the same building until 3 January 2027. If you are already west for the lake, the bundle is the one that stops you buying two queues.

Hours follow the centre: Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 5pm, last entry 4.15pm. Closed Mondays except public holidays and gazetted school holidays. Jurong East MRT (NS1/EW24) Exit D through Westgate is about eight minutes on foot. Buses 66 and 335 stop on Jurong Town Hall Road at 28251. Buy on tickets.science.edu.sg. No cash at the kiosk.

Spookology, the centre's Halloween investigation, runs 27 October to 1 November, with After Dark nights on 30 and 31 October from 7pm to 11pm. That is a separate ticket. Glowing Oceans is the November leftover: a wet, dark gallery on Science Centre Road while the new Zaha Hadid building is still a 2027 job next to Chinese Garden MRT. Pair it with 裕廊湖花园 in daylight if you want the lake as well. Do not plan Snow City. It closed on 30 September 2026.
