Snow City closes on 30 September 2026. That is not a rumour and it is not a renovation pause. After 26 years beside Science Centre Singapore in Jurong East, Singapore's first indoor snow centre shuts for good, and the Science Centre Board's farewell bundle is the last cheap way to walk into minus temperatures without a plane ticket.
The official campaign is called One Last Snowfall. It has been running since 1 June. Science Centre Singapore's own page is the source to trust for prices, not old blog posts quoting the May press release. The current bundle is one ticket for three venues: one hour of snow play plus a bumper car ride at Snow City, admission to Science Centre Singapore, and one Omni-Theatre movie. For Singapore citizens and PRs, that is $19 off-peak or $25 peak for adults, and $16 off-peak or $20 peak for children. Standard tickets sit at $31 for adults and $24 for children. Those numbers beat the old standalone snow-play prices of $27 and $23 that Science Centre quoted when the closure was announced in May.
If you only remember the 2000s slope, the building you walk into now is the Galactic Ice rebuild. Four zones sit in a chamber that staff keep at about 400mm of on-site snow. Little Day Out's walkthrough still matches what the operator lists: a 30-metre ice gallery with sculptures you can actually touch, the 120-metre Glacier Luge (Singapore Book of Records, 1,300 ice blocks), bumper cars on ice, and a Snow Village where kids can shovel, roll snowmen and take a blizzard on the hour. Jackets and boots come with admission. Socks do not. Bring a pair, or buy them at the counter and start the session already annoyed.
What the last three weeks actually feel like
Lianhe Zaobao's August visit is the most useful on-the-ground note I found. The centre still closes on Mondays for ice work. Staff spray the slide, grind the floor, and keep the guns producing 10 to 15 tonnes of snow a week. About 55 percent of visitors are tourists. The rest are locals who suddenly remembered school trips. Eight full-time staff were offered redeployment inside the Science Centre Board when the May statement went out. That is the institutional reason for the shutdown: SCB wants the Jurong East precinct to sit closer to its science-education brief, and an indoor snow park no longer fits the next chapter.
The Science Centre itself is due to move toward Chinese Garden MRT in later years. Snow City does not get a slot in that plan. So this is not a "see you at the new campus" goodbye. When 30 September ends, the chamber ends.
Practical bits that still catch people out, from Snow City's own admission notes: arrive 15 to 30 minutes before your timed session. Snow play starts at age 3. Children under 7 need an adult in the chamber. The Glacier Luge is for ages 7 to 10 only with an adult, helmets on. Bumper cars need a rider above 0.9m; 0.9m to 1.2m share a car with a taller adult. Long pants are required. Gloves help if you plan to take photos. Pregnant visitors are advised to skip the ice. Book on the Science Centre ticketing site rather than walking in during school holidays. September's holiday week will be the crush.
If you are already in Jurong East for the Science Centre's ONE Ocean exhibition or for Celestial Nights later this month, stack the snow session on the same trip. The bundle already includes the galleries and a dome movie. That is the honest last use of the place: one cold hour, then a warm walk back toward Jurong East MRT.
